Movement 2 makes use of verse 1 of the hymn “Machs mit mir, Gott, nach deiner Güt” (“Deal with me, God, of Thy good will”) by Johann Hermann Schein (1628). Movement 6: verse 1 of the hymn “Herr, wie du willt, so schicks mit mir” (“Lord, as thou wilt, so deal with me”) by Kaspar Bienemann (1582).
